About

Lakevillesouthnews.com is the official student-produced digital newspaper published by Lakeville South students who are members of Journalism club who have applied and been accepted to The Current staff.  The publication has been established as a designated public forum for student expression for student editors to inform and educate their readers as well as for the discussion of issues of concern to their audience.  It will not be reviewed or restrained by school officials prior to publication or distribution.

Because lakevillesouthnews.com is a designated forum for student expression, the editorial board, which consists of the staff’s student editors, will determine the content.  The views stated in editorials represent that of a majority of the editorial board.  No single member of the editorial board can be held responsible for editorial content decisions.  Signed columns or reviews represent only the opinion of the author.

Because the content of The Current reflects only the views of the student staff and not school officials, The Current editorial board will also have complete legal responsibility for what is printed.  The Current will strive to not publish material that is libelous, obscene, materially disruptive of the school process, and unwarranted invasion of privacy or a violation of copyright.

lakevillesouthnews.com welcomes letters to the editor, guest columns and news releases from faculty, administrators, community residents, students and the general public.  Preference will be given to letters 200 words or less, longer letters will be accepted as space allows. We ask that letters to the editor and guest columns contain the author’s name and address.  The Current editorial board reserves the right to withhold a letter or column and return it for resubmission if it determines the piece contains items of unprotected speech as determined by this policy or significant grammatical errors.  Letters will be checked for verifications.

All online media produced by lakevillesouthnews.com are entitled to the same protections and subject to the same freedoms and responsibilities, as media produced for print publication.

Staff members will strive to correct any error before publication; however, if the editorial board determines a significant error is printed, a formal correction will appear as soon as possible.
